NECO Students Rescued After ISWAP Attack on Borno School as Soldier, CJTF Member Make Ultimate Sacrifice

According to military sources, the attackers stormed the school while students were writing their NECO examination, abducting several students and teachers. Troops immediately launched a pursuit, engaging the terrorists in a firefight that reportedly inflicted casualties on the attackers and forced them to abandon some of the captives.

The rescued students and teachers were recovered unharmed and are currently receiving medical attention and psychosocial support. Security forces also recovered seven motorcycles allegedly used by the fleeing terrorists.

However, the rescue operation came at a heavy cost, as one Nigerian soldier and one member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) lost their lives in the line of duty.

Military authorities said operations are ongoing to rescue the remaining abducted victim(s), track down the fleeing terrorists, and reinforce security around schools and vulnerable communities in the area.
