Nigerian Army Foils Alleged ISWAP Attack in Borno, Arrests Suspected Spy During Patrol
The Nigerian Army has arrested Muhammad Shuaibu, a suspected ISWAP spy, over an alleged plan to attack Forward Operating Base (FOB) Chabbol and the 199 Special Forces Battalion (Mosquito Camp) in Borno State.
According to military sources, the suspect was apprehended during a routine patrol after security personnel received credible intelligence about a planned terrorist attack on the two military formations.
Preliminary investigations reportedly linked the suspect to the planned operation. During interrogation, he allegedly revealed that the attack had already been coordinated and claimed the terrorists intended to proceed with their mission regardless of his arrest.
The timely intelligence and swift action by troops allowed the military to strengthen security around the targeted locations, potentially preventing the planned attack. The suspect has since been handed over to the 7 Military Intelligence Brigade for further investigation.
